I wanted to let you know about a gallery show the Nuuanu Gallery in Honolulu is hosting called Dirty Laundry: The Art of the Stain in Modern T-Shirt Design. The basic concept is that we asked designers to stain t-shirts with a medium of their choice (grass, wine, lipstick, etc.) and then design custom artwork that uses the stain as an integral design element. We’ve gathered an amazing group of artists to be in the show (Mike Perry, Damien Correll, Frank Chimero, Kris Chau, & Tim Gough to name a few…) and are expecting a great collection of limited edition and unique t-shirts. Hey there, I’m writing because I’m the co-owner of a tee shirt company, Draw Limited, and wanted to let you check us out.
First off, what we’re about is getting people to realize that everyone is an artist; it’s not only what you see in museums, but also what you doodle on a sheet of paper. We have themes, our last one being “Handimals”, and people submit to those themes their creations following the instructions on our website at http://www.drawlimited.com/themepage.php. My partner and I then go through the submissions and chose a select few to be printed onto limited tees while the rest are displayed in our art gallery on our website.
We aren’t trying to make a buck (though it helps keep us alive, lol) and we aren’t trying to make the next generic tee, we want to bring people back to art..everyone.
